waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest
1/3 of the wave spectrum. occasional wave height is the average of
the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.synopsis...the axis of surface-based ridging attendant to a 30.5 
inch high over the tennessee valley will slide out across new 
england tonight, while a surface trough averaging 29.8 inches passes 
just to the north of the lake. another 29.3 inch low will then move 
from western ontario tuesday to southern quebec wednesday. this 
system will push its trailing cold front across the lake wednesday 
night, when a secondary 29.4 inch coastal low will develop along the 
mid-atlantic coastline. the secondary low will then track northeast 
to the gulf of maine thursday and to newfoundland friday, while 30.0 
inch high pressure slowly builds east across the great lakes. a 29.8 
inch low and attendant cold fronts will then slide across the great 
lakes saturday.
