Belmont Shore Overview

Beginner windsurf and SUP launch in Alamitos Bay 5400 block of Ocean Blvd. Smooth, clean water make it one of the best learning spots around.
Intermediate/advanced windsurfing in the Long Beach Harbor across the street. Windsurfers can launch at the Granada Ramp or "Steve's Beach" near the Belmont Pool. Grass rigging area next to pool or in the metered lot islands. Please yield right of way to swimmers inside the swim buoys and do your jibes and jumps outside the swimming area. Advanced riders can enjoy the higher winds found between the oil islands (3/4 mile off the beach) and the Breakwater
Kitesurfing Launch at La Verne St & Ocean Blvd. Please observe Kite Area rules on sign posted at the parking lot.

Sensor Notes

Sensor generally reads higher than actual. As an idea, sand starts to blow across the beach at 17mph. My guess is that this sensor reads at least +2mph at beach but are indicate the actual wind in the middle of the harbor. "20 YEAR LONG BEACH LOCAL" ADDS: Consider the low (green) line as the actual average and the blue (middle) line as the gust and the readings will be about right---and align with more reliable sensors like Long Beach Airport and Seal Beach River's End.
