Among the many things that Bard is ignorant of--science, geology, economics, tectonic uplift, global warming, evolution, we can now include the Constitution. He either doesn't know that the founding fathers intended a separation of powers between the legislative and judicial functions--or he doesn't care.

So sad. He must have slept through high school civics. And science.

The piano sounds out of tune. What do you think the problem is?

Won't be prosecuted because political theater is just absurd. And you bought it hook-line-and sinker.

Wait...what, what what? "Won't be prosecuted..." And you call yourself a "Guru" LOL Laughing

OK, in all fairness, I have to admit, I actually do think Trump is a big fat zit. I just don't think he should be prosecuted for it though.

I mean, look at him. He can't even wait for his guests! Disgusting.

BTW, who's the fellow in the lower right?

I listened to the prosecution's opening statement in the New York case.
Frankly, the arguments are surprisingly weak and the prosecutor
presented the same points over and over in slightly different rhetoric.
Not confidence building.

One can only hope that definitive evidence can be presented to substantiate
the crimes rather than conjecture and what was in the mind of the defendant.

Further, even if convicted, I doubt Trump will do any real jail time (for these
allegations), They're just not the kind of crime that sends the accused to Rikers.

Unfortunately, (as I mentioned years ago) a presidential candidate can run
not only his candidacy, but also the country, from prison legally. If this
prosecution goes even slightly awry, Trump supporters will feel empowered.

My opinion is that Trump is an idot, but he has exceptional experience
creating and turning a media circus to his advantage. I hope this doesn't backfire.

Craig, I tend to agree with you. However, we have to remember that the legal case against Trump in New York doesn't begin until arguably next year, and possibly as late as Spring. Also, there are the other more serious cases unfolding over time that will in all likelihood shed an even more negative light on Trump and highlight his unfitness for the presidency.

I'm sure that that's bound to unsettle him greatly and project boatloads of unfavorable information to the American people. Too much of this drama will weaken Trump and make him look increasingly undesirable. While I'm sure that dyed in the wool Trump supporters will not be deterred, it's the independents and the Republicans looking for a more credible conservative candidate without the baggage that will plague and threaten Trump's run.

Ignoring for now the strength or weakness of the evidence, I suspect Trump will be acquitted due to the fact that a conviction requires a unanimous verdict. It's likely that at least one person on the jury will be a MAGA person and would not vote to convict no matter the evidence.

If the Republicans in the Senate had done their duty under the Constitution, they would have convicted Trump in his impeachment trial for fomenting violence to try to overthrow an election. At that point, if Trump was banned from running again, Biden could have pardoned him from his Federal crimes and we could have moved on and let him go back to his tacky tabloid world.

Except for those who died from the January 6 riots, and women who have had a fundamental right taken away, Trump has been a boon for Democrats. The backlash against the abortion ruling hit Wisconsin yesterday—and the pro-women’s rights candidate won by over 10%. As George Will pointed out today, DeSantis has thrown himself under the bus by pandering to a tiny coterie of religious extremists.

Hey Steve,

I want to believe that criminal indictments will have that effect, but
the Congressional Republicans are surely smart enough to see this just as
you suggest. Do you think the RNC is going to nominate someone else?
Will independents be swayed against Trump? I don't think that is a
forgone conclusion. And most of the voting American public has a
very short memory. I think a huge portion of those "independents"
are still dissatisfied with their lot in life. Enter the Panderer
Extraordinaire..........complete with a tale of vindication(even if
there is a conviction on some counts).

You (and Mac) seem to think a Democrat is a lock for the presidency,
if Trump keeps going like he is. I previously stated such myself.

After listening to the NY indictment, I'm not so sure.

p.s. still hoping for an intelligent outcome from both parties
