...air stagnation advisory remains in effect until 11 am pdt
friday...

* what...an extended period of stagnant air, with light winds
  and little vertical mixing.

* where...northeast mountains, okanogan highlands, wenatchee
  area, east slopes northern cascades, okanogan valley and
  waterville plateau.

* when...until 11 am pdt friday.

* impacts...periods of air stagnation can lead to the buildup of
  pollutants near the surface. this can be harmful to those
  sensitive to air pollution including people with lung and
  heart problems, people with diabetes, children, and the
  elderly.

* additional details...strong inversions will linger into the
  late morning or early afternoon hours. the arrival of a cold
  front on friday should bring increasing winds and help push
  stagnant air out of the valleys of central and northern
  washington.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

if possible, reduce or eliminate activities that contribute to
air pollution, such as outdoor burning, and the use of
residential wood burning devices. reduce vehicle trips and
vehicle idling as much as possible. check with local agencies for
possible restriction in your area.

...air stagnation advisory remains in effect until 11 am pdt
friday...

* what...poor air quality.

* where...simcoe highlands, east slopes of the washington
  cascades, kittitas valley and yakima valley.

* when...until 11 am pdt friday.

* impacts...poor air quality may cause issues for people with
  respiratory problems.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

people with respiratory illness should follow their physician's
advice for dealing with high levels of air pollution during
periods of stagnant air.

state air quality agencies highly recommend that no outdoor
burning occur and that residential wood burning devices be
limited as much as possible. according to state air quality
agencies, prolonged periods of stagnant air can hold pollutants
close to the ground where people live and breathe. check with
your local burn agency for any current restrictions in your area.
