The zipper sliders on my old Dakine board bags have corroded and broken off. Any tips on where I could buy a replacement zipper slider that large? They seem to be bigger than the #10 size but I haven't found anywhere that carries larger than #10 online. I tried the fixnzip but it was too small. If I could just find a replacement slider I could still use these two board bags. I like to put the boards in bags when they are on top of the car. Thanks in advance.

How about swap meets? I've snagged many board bags in good to excellent condition, including a near-new rough, tough airline-quality bag, for $10-20. Had to pay $50 for one because it had an outstanding board in it.

If there's a really good fabric store near you, they have things like that. Used to be one in PDX that I got replacement zipper things but they folded up and got replaced by a Pot Shop last time I drove by.

Or Velcro tape to replace the zipper?

I looked at the zippers on several of my old Dakine bags. There are 2 different styles. If yours has YKK written on the zipper pull then I have several spare sliders that I can give you. I am not sure if they would work on the other zipper type. I live in the SF bay area so no need to ship. PM me if you are interested.

This will be out of left field but I just cut slits in the fabric on both sides and use pieces of electrical wire through them and twisted together to hold it closed. Two or three per bag is usually sufficient.

Great idea!

Zippers on windsurfing gear is crazy, particularly metal ones on sail bags. Over time, they're a total failure. I can't tell how many failed sail bags I've got. As I remember, it was Neil Pryde that started that nonsense when manufacturing moved over to China.

Regarding board bags, I have to admit that the large plastic zippers on the old DaKine bags have held up extremely well over the years. On one bag it's been over 22 years, but it's always lived inside the van.

Peter - if those fixes don’t work I have a Dakine bag that I’d give you if they fit your boards. The Dakine white ones. Text me me if you can’t fix yours.
