|

I was wonder why rotation was so poor on my 8.6 NX. I inspected the cam rollers and 3 of the 4 cams have one if not both rollers seized. Any tips for loosening them and getting rid of any corrosion on the pins? |

This pins were corroding. I pulled the pins and sanded them using a drill and sandpaper. I'm soaking the pins now in boiling vinegar and they're bubbling nicely. Hopefully this will get me through the season or until I can get my hands on new pins. I will try WD-40 moving forward. These pins seems to corrode easier than they should. Wonder if they are even stainless. |

If the pins still don't free fully, McLube the mast where the cams rotate, each time you rig that sail. |

just email Bruce or Jim at Sailworks.
I had corroded cams on a sail. If you can extract the pins without damaging the cams, then you can just replace the rollers. Otherwise you can buy new cams which like $15 a piece as I recall. |
