My everyday board is a 110L Firemove (236 x 74) and I'm focused on something bigger for the light wind days that typically roll around here in SW Colorado mid-summer. 140+ liters and minimum of 80cm wide.
Thanks guys. Keep the comments coming! |

I have ridden a few boards like you have and are looking for.
They are not my cuppa tea. My preference.
Time on the water on anything is the goal, so get what you want.
I didn’t see any reference that you wanted a foil board, the numerous references to one and tuttle box , WTF. The longer fins yes, somewhere it’s desirable for the tuttle over powerbox.
You have a difficult task to find the board , used.
Do you have a link for Colorado Windsurfing, or the club in Denver area?
PM me if I can help. _________________ K4 fins

He wants a light wind board. Right now he might not want a foil but there's a reasonable chance that someday, he'll be slogging around on a 7.5 when some foiler will go whizzing by on a 6. He'll ponder the possibility. It would be a shame if he didn't have that possibility. It's about options. As someone who lives in a wind deprived place, foiling is a game changer - not just for me but for 75% of the locals. It's been the single biggest thing getting and keeping people on the water that's happened in light wind spots in the last 25 years.
That's why we ask others for advice. Sometimes, they bring up things and view points we might not have thought of or considered fully. |

Agreed, NOVAAN and wsatl. Thanks for being civil. I drummed up a conversation about light wind gear last year and it turned pretty sour. The topic quickly switched to foil vs ws vs light wind, etc. Folks got pretty heated!
Yes, I would possibly be interested in foiling down the road, but not currently. I'm an inland sailor and my local reservoirs aren't very conducive to foiling. Weeds, shallow areas, stumps, mud, etc. But, perhaps I will have the option in the future. Having said that, has anyone retrofitted a board with this:

I'm just simply looking for some information about the Magic Ride, Gecko, and Volar. All three boards appear to be what I'm looking for. Price is a little high, but that's the way of the world these days. I'm simply looking for more TOW in the light wind season. CoachG and others suggested 140 liters and 80 cm wide boards for this discipline. Slogging on a 110 L board with an 8.2 sail is kind of a drag. When the wind is light, it's all too easy to have a beer on the deck or go biking. I should be out on the water!!
Thanks friends. Be safe out there.[/b] |

I read the OP reply , to be what I interpreted , He’s not interested in a foil at this time.
I think he is iq enough to state so, if he was inclined. I am probably more in tune with his thoughts, maybe.
As almost always the case posters take an initiative and broaden the topic.
Same way they can and do that, It may on occasion step on some toes, But
I have the same its not an obligation, but right to post an opposing view.
This case I’m right, your are wrong. No,harm no foul. _________________ K4 fins

IF if a foil is in the future, use the foil recommended by the board company to ensure the package is balanced.
Windsurfers who are lightweight can fully plane, with the right big gear, when 200lb'ers can barely foil. |
