It's all marketing (and a bit shameful at that: make it wider, now wait make it narrower, make it with a square tail, no wait use a swallow one, cut the front, no wait make it less so ... and somehow according to the advertisement it is always the best board!).

There is no perfect board for everybody and everywhere. Get a custom board like a Flikka https://flikkaboards.com/boards/compact/ if you want to fidget with shapes.

I've seen MANY folks spend $beaucoup on customs only to be very disappointed, to the point of just living with them, returning them at a loss, or just getting rid of them. This has applied to extremely knowledgeable experts to ordinary recreational sailors who read good things on the internet about a brand.

I chose another route*, with immensely satisfactory results, largely for the reasons dvcali listed first: "It's all marketing (and a bit shameful at that: make it wider, no wait make it narrower, make it with a square tail, no wait use a swallow one, cut the front, no wait me it less so ... and somehow according to the advertisement it is always the best board!). There is no perfect board for everybody and everywhere."

* Research boards in the magazines and online, make ranked shopping lists, search swap meets and consignment shops, and ask sailors on the beach if they're interested in selling or swapping their ride. That lets me "demo" (aka buy and try at my leisure) many boards, determine which ones best suit MY sailing preferences and conditions, and sell any that don't make my "cold, dead hands" list ... all at almost no risk. Many on my CDH list cost me $10 to $100, and the process has been a LOT of fun.

It's the closest thing to having a harem that I'll find in this life.

Have 5 85 liter boards, including a 2001 Naish Freeride, close to my favorite.
Newer boards are ....newer.

I can't find your review on your site - is it not up yet?

Did you swap out the fin set for something smaller? looks to be a lot of fin in the picture

12-20 is a compromise between new and old school.
On bigger boards, it works well.
On my 62 wide tri fin 92 liter, 10-23 is fully needed.

For upwind, jumps, and landings, especially.

It'll be up in the next few days. Apologies for the delay. The 85 is 19+12, sharp grip. It's a bit much for me but for freeride use it's ok.

It felt too much on the classic, on the stubby it was a bit soft (fin material likely) and finally on the 2020 it was ok Smile

The true real stubby has 18+12 despite a wider bum but a wave use. They are all back foot boards.

I'll be comparing 85 and 95 shapes as well as 95 and older 96 version.
