Well, at least you have choices.
My 92 liter Exocet with a 7.0 sail planes way earlier than my 150 Shark.
Of course, the Shark is a better SUP board. |

dlee: you must weigh what my buddy does
same day he was on a smaller old BIC and a SW Retro 7-oh
was planing more than I was
not a lot tho - not a great light wind day
as I said earlier - foil was the way to go ...
even kite foilers doing better than regular twin tips ... |

You should really look at the Slingshot Flyer 280 for winds from 2-10 knots. As I stated at the beginning of this Topic the Flyer was not tested. I have sailed the LT & the Flyer in similar winds. I am faster & point higher with a 5.6 freestyle sail on the Flyer than I am with a 7.2 freeride sail on the LT.

I haven't been on the "Slingshot Flyer 280 longboard" yet... but I know 2 guys with them in Seattle. I've seen these guys on the water with their boards, but haven't see em them up in the air yet.
I was in the Gorge for one day a week ago, and talked to Tony L of Slingshot while at the beach. He also suggested that board. But I think I have enough boards (long and short).
I'm foiling mostly on Exocet RF-91 and Slingshot Infinity 84 and various sails. I'm happy with the light wind (8-14 mph) foiling I get from this.
I use my Windsurfer LT when I'm teaching or messing around in 2 -10 mph wind, mostly 3 to 8 mph wind (at 195 lbs I won't be foiling in wind that's primarily 3-8 mph).
If I care about performance sailing in wind from 3 to 8 mph I'll sail my Equipe or Lightening with a BIG sail. _________________ Greg

I now weigh 153...add the 4/3 wetsuit that sometimes gets wet.
Early summer, 171 lbs., still add the wetsuit.
I'm the earliest planer even with small sails, regardless of sailor weight because smaller sailors cannot pump efficiently.
Of course, when breeze dies to 15 gusts, I cannot plane on 5.0 and 85 liters....except by pumping non stop. |
