At 15, I drew up plans for my "ideal" surfmobile that ended up looking like a VW Golf/GTI but the roof had built in racks, inboard and out of the windline.
I won a CaliforniaHighSchool Engineering Award for that.

My 1999 Ford 250 Econoline extended body van. The two sails next to the booms normally go under the deck behind the baskets, but I was taking photos for insurance records so I pulled them out.

Better install a fence in back of the driver seat. A sudden stop will make that yellow board want to take off your head! (and your bunjee cords aren't going to stop it)
Just sayin,,,,,
Very nice van setup though.

With my long commute to the beach and current gas prices, MPGs are becoming more important. The old Honda minivan still seems to be an ok compromize. Room for 3+ boards inside and all accessories with about 24mpg (hwy). If only they were more fun to drive and didn't have that soccer mom stigma....,,,and closer to 30mpgs would be nice.

techno900,
Only three boards and five race sails? Certainly, you've got a wealth of booms and masts in the van. I have to admit, you've definitely got me beat in that department. Yet I have to say, where's the high wind boards and the quiver of small RAF sails for those big days?
Also, where do you sleep on those windsurfing trips?

Yeah, all summer my '79 F-150 carries 14 sails, 4 booms, over 10 masts, and usually 4 boards inside, plus, for the last 2 years, I slept in it most nites.
LeeD here.

There are two other boards in the garage, a poly Tiga 263 when the wind is big and a 1985 Superlight for the light wind regattas.
There are four other small sails and two booms out of sight, under the deck.
The head is protected, I thought that a 50 - 0 sudden stop situation could be bad news, so I found a solution.
