Im guessing one of the reasons youre getting no takers is that carpooling -- even just meeting up with buds -- further complicates this already complicated sport, ESPECIALLY in the gorge with it extremely complex wind patterns. Ya gotta go when and where the wind suits ya, and everybody has different preferences as the wind moves around. And when its blowing, 12 minutes to load up some buds gear seems like 12 hours.
I used to pool with a bud on one-day trips, but only because
a) he hated to drive, and Id have to sail alone in a 100-sq-mile lake if he didnt go,
b) the trip was 185 miles each way,
c) he paid all the gas costs,
d) he could go on a moments notice when the wind came up unexpectedly,
e) he was excellent company, and
f) he didnt mind waiting to go home til I was through sailing even if he quit literally six hours before I did.
THAT was a carpool bud worth the effort. Anything less is just a bigger PITA in a sport thats already a PITA.
