They seem to be bigger than the #10 size but I haven't found anywhere that carries larger than #10 online. I tried the fixnzip but it was too small. If I could just find a replacement slider I could still use these two board bags. I like to put the boards in bags when they are on top of the car. Thanks in advance.

Any fabric store should have variety of shorter zippers. By one with the similar slider and use that as the replacement. I've repaired a lot of coats, bags etc.
My closest store here in NH is Jo Ann. Huge selection of zippers |

I am called upon to repair/replace zippers with some frequency. The best plastic zippers I have found are those made of delrin (Vislon) and sold by Challenge Sailcloth (us@challengesailcloth.com) You can choose between YKK Vislon zippers and/or pulls in YKK format for standard #5 and#8 and #10 and #15 zippers/pulls. These are top quality marine zippers and pulls. Besides those zippers they also sell the YKK coil Vislon zippers in #5 and #10 and compatible nickel zippers that are the best I have ever seen. I used same to replace a zipper in a board bag recently and it was one of the best zipper and pull combo's I've ever seen. It had wonderful easy pull action and very smooth pulling around corners. Their Star Jib zippers are also the best I have ever seen. For their catalog: www.challengesailcloth.com
Replacing a zipper requires a lot of precise sewing to get both sides to end up at exactly the same end point during installation. |
