What is the width of the Maui Sails boom frontend where it clamps onto the boom?

My boom arm has the correct diameter and has a straight section of 90mm for the frontend to clamp onto. Is the Maui Sails frontend wider than 90mm?

I've swapped a lot of boom heads. The MS boom head was the first high performance replacement available, since then there are a lot of good options that offer some features like built-in RDM shim, and most are half the cost of MS. Chinook, Aeron, Duotone are all good performing replacements. The stiffest and highest cost is Streamlined, which is now easier to use, but you buy separate RDM or SDM heads (can use shim). Chinook lists the dimensions of theirs, 33.5 diameter and 88 mm wide. It is easy to build up diameter with fiberglass cloth and epoxy if necessary, can also put little epoxy bumps on to keep the head centered.

Yes .. good point .. I forgot that the Maui Sails does not have the built-in RDM shim Sad

My AL360 has a 36mm diameter and 90mm straight section on the inside with a bit of a taper to 100mm on the outside.

Maybe I could sand back the ridge on the inside to flatten out a wider section about 100mm, then fit the streamlined? .. the carbon is probably thick enough .. hopefully.

On Ebay right now someone has up for sale Hawaiian Pro Line replacement head. I installed this on a boom a long time ago and was happy with it. I bought it specifically because it would fit a boom with a narrow straight tube (can't recall what the measurement was, but chose it specifically because it was narrow) and I believe HPL booms had a 37mm diameter front tube. It performs reasonably well, has a built in RDM shim, actually recall it seems better suited for RDM than SDM, as the SDM cup seemed rather skimpy with not much of a grippy area. Otherwise it was early version of what most boom heads are like now.
